چکیده

Peptic ulcer disease has remained a global threat due to several complications such as perforation, gastrointestinal obstruction and organ penetration associated with the disease. This study evaluated phytochemical composition anti-ulcer activity of crude extract fractions Acanthus montanus on an indomethacin-induced in mouse model. The plant was extracted using cold maceration methanol fractionated solvents varying polarities into their corresponding fractions. screening conducted standard procedure. acute toxicity test employed Lorke’s method method. revealed abundance tannins, saponins, steroids/terpenoids flavonoids An showed that is safe even at high dose 5000 mg/kg. A. elicited dose-dependent against peptic strong curative indices 79, 93, 71% for 400 mg/kg doses aqueous, n-hexane respectively compared 42% index control. There healing eliciting higher than 200 doses. aqueous fraction ofmethanol extract, significantly different (p<0.05) from those controls. rich presence biologically active constituents antiulcerogenic properties supports its use ethnomedicine.&nbsp

Evaluation of Anti-ulcer Activity of Echinops Persicus on Experimental Gastric Ulcer Models in Rats

Extract of Echinops persicus is traditionally used for a long time in Iran for treatment of cough and constipation. This extract is produced by activity of bug (Situphilus spp.) on the plant. We documented its anti-tussive effect in rats in our previous study. The aim of this study was to assess the anti-ulcer effect of Echinops persicus in an animal model. In this study we evaluated anti-ulcer...

A Direct Comparison of Anti-ulcer Effects of Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamin C on Indomethacin-induced Gastric Ulcer in Rat: A Controlled Experimental Study

Introduction: Indomethacin increases generation of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) which have a crucial role in the indomethacin-induced gastric ulcer. Coenzyme Q10 has an antioxidant activity on mitochondria and cell membranes and protects lipids from oxidation and is essential for stabilizing biological membranes. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) acts as one of the defense mechanisms ag...
